| The Turkish president will travel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cameroon. Turkey's President Abdullah Gul would go on a tour on Sunday covering the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cameroon, his office said on Saturday. Gul will visit Kinshasa and Yaounde cities between March 14 and 17 as the formal guest of President Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and President Paul Biya of Cameroon. This will be the first time a Turkish president will visit the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cameroon. Besides his formal talks, Gul will participate in business forums in the two countries and visit Turkish schools. Gul will discuss bilateral relations, regional and international developments in his talks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cameroon. Turkey has 18 embassies in the continent of Africa, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cameroon. Turkey's trade volume with African countries was only 5 billion USD in 2003. It climbed over 15 billion USD in 2009 despite the global economic crisis. Turkey aims to raise the figure to 30 billion USD in the following few years. |
