| The Turkish premier said on Tuesday that the nuclear program of Iran was humanitarian. Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Iran's nuclear program was humanitarian and pacifist. "A positive approach to this positive attitude will take the (negotiation) process to a more positive course," Erdogan told reporters. Erdogan is actually visiting Iran, and he discussed Iran's nuclear energy controversy and Iranian-Turkish relations during his talks with Iranian authorities. The Turkish prime minister said Iran had assumed a sincere stance in the first Geneva meeting, and an approach emerged to create a common consensus and go on with the process within the framework of that consensus. Erdogan said he thought that those who seemed to be in the opposite side would assume a positive approach, thanks to Iran's positive stance. Iran and six-nation group including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China had a landmark meeting in Geneva on October 1. Iran agreed to open its newly revealed uranium enrichment plant near Qum to international inspection in the next two weeks and to send most of its openly declared enriched uranium outside Iran to be turned into fuel for a small reactor that produces medical isotopes. Also, Erdogan said that he had the opportunity to discuss measures against terrorism during his meetings with Iranian authorities, and defined his meetings with Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi and President Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad as fruitful. |
