| Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated Wednesday that the issue of Iran's nuclear program should be resolved by means of diplomacy. At a joint news conference with Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi, Erdogan said he listened to Iran's nuclear program firsthand from Rahimi. "We are now in a new and sensitive period and we have stated many times that this issue should be resolved by means of diplomacy," Erdogan told reporters. "We want this solution to protect Iran's right to use nuclear power for peaceful purposes and also to take into consideration security concerns of the international community," Erdogan said. Turkey believes all nuclear weapons pose danger to humanity, Erdogan added and went on saying Turkey would be the biggest supporter to eradicate existence of nuclear weapons throughout the world. "I told my Iranian brothers that Turkey would continue to support diplomatic process as we have done so far," he said. Apart from nuclear issue, Erdogan said Turkey and Iran should work together against terrorism and regional solidarity. He said steps to be taken by Turkey and Iran, especially for intelligence sharing, were very important to fight terrorism. "Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey have to display solidary. Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine must show too. We have to take these steps for peace in the Middle East. As Turkey, we are resolute to continue to exert peaceful efforts," Erdogan said. |
